Tewkesbury, who has been on the news staff of The Empire for more than two and one-half years and who resigned recently to go to Seattle to look after personal business affairs, left Sunday morning on the motorship Norco. He was accompanied by his son David, Jr., who graduated from Juneau High School last year and was taking extra work this year in the commercial depart- . ment. Mr. Tewkesbury was uncertain . how long he would be required in Seattle but hoped that the emer- gency that caused his resignation would not be extended and that he would be able to return to his desk at The Empire in the ‘not . distant future. A capable, efficient and exper- ienced newspaper man, he was a valuable man on the staff and will be missed on the paper. The va- cancy is being filled temporarily by Mrs. Dorothy Troy -Morgan, daughter of John W.
