Wes- on Jerkins, aged 51, who was in charge of the United States de- tachment that went to the rescue of the Lost Battalion in the World War, died suddenly at a tourist camp near Amsterdam. In the World War, Col. Jenkins commanded the Thirty Ninth In- fantry. He was awarded the Dis- tinguished Service Cross honored by citations in general orders for gallantry and judgment on two other occasions.
