The verdict was reached last night and opened today. Hodgson, Paul Meyers and Frank Balkovitz pleaded guilty to the charge and are awaiting sentence. They were arrested near Auburn when a still was raided last Spring. It was alleged Thornton was inter- ested in the ownership of the still. Families Listed in 1930 Census WASHINGTON, D. C, Dec. 11.— Nearly thirty million American families—showing & real decrease in average size—were counted in the 1930 national census. The Census Bureau announced it counted 29,980,146 families, includ- ing groups living together in board- ing houses or institutions. More than 40 per cent, 12,078,345, had radio sets. For 1930 the population per fam- ily was 4.1 compared with 43 for 1920 and 4.9 for 1890. The largest families were found in North and @outh Carolina, the smallest in California and Nevada.
