It isn't likely, of course, that the | studios will ever see fit to spare their celebritles from the sound stages en masse as woud be re- |quired, since the business of stars is to make pictures and not to undertake campaigns. Meanwhile, however, Hollywood |is easing the wor kof the censors, as well as the film exchanges and theatre owners, through the work of a newly created studio staff dubbed “scenario cutters.” ‘These are girls, who, when: a pic- ture is completed, see it projected, check each scene, each speech, against the script from which 1t was made, and record all changes that have been made during pro- duction. The result of their work is a complete script of the film exactly as it will be released, scene by scene, and not as it was intended originally. In other words, they cut the script exactly as the film cut- ter has cut the film, as the director has made it, and their finished product tells all concerned exactly what is in the picture. " “Baby-Star” Stars Marian Marsh is first of the year’s crop of “baby stars” actually |to achieve stardom. | She will be formally rated a star | with the release of “Under Eight- een.” This began as “The Poor Little Ritz Girl, but the title waschanged because Mary Pickford once played “The Poor Little Rich Girl,” and " | Hyams’ * * » CAPITOL WILL FOLLOW HOLT WITH MENJOU “Dirigible’ Ends Tonight—| ‘Men Call It Love’ on Sunday Dirigible,” featuring Jack Holt, | will be shown for the last times | tonight at the Capitol theatre “Men Call It Love" starring Ad-| olphe Menjou and Leila Hyams, | will be the Sunday offering, the | first presentation being at matinee tomorrow afternoon. | In “Dirigible,” the fascination of | a uniform is demonstrated. At a ball given by the naval officers in honor of Holt who is departing on a dirigible trip to the North Pole, the spectacle is a brilliant and iri- descent scene. The naval officers, most of them young and handsome, are dressed impeccably in white. Brightly Costumed Women The young women are more brightly costumed. in a brilliant variety of crimson, mauve and black evening gowns as well as others of varied colorings. The chandaliers throw diffused and scintillating pin points of lights on the colorful assemblege and the whole is a magic scene with which to conjure. In “Men Call It Love,” Menjou, is a bachelor. Always the gentl man, he bowshumbly and sends the lady of his heart back to her hus- band. | Bubbling with brilliant lines and spicy situations, the picture main- tains a swift pace from the mo- ment it opens at a divorce party until it closes on Menjou's gallant gesture. Hedda Hopper scintillates as the hostess at the divorce party and is afforded an opportunity for| some. haughty dialogue and than Hedda Hopper there is none haughtier. | Recruit From Stage ; Robert Emmett Keane, a recruit from the stage, provides a sincere characterization as Joe, Miss Dun- can’s clammy husband. There is an air of extravagance evidenced throughout -the produc- tion and whatever may be found lacking in action is more than off- set by pictorial interest and plot motivation in the zippy lines. the similarity of the titles was feared confusing.
