NELSON WATER COMPANY GIVEN NEW FRANCHISE Grant Is for 20 Years and Virtually Is Same as Previous Permission For another 20 years, afranchise was given to the Nelson Water Company last night by the Juneau City Council. The terms of the new grant, like those of the pres- ent grant, which was voted 20 years ago, permits the company to lay and maintain pipe lines along and under streets and alleys ix;d do such other things as are ‘esse- tial tQ the conduct of its husiness of supplying water for domestic, manufacturing or other uses. The conditions imposed upon the company are that in the course of its operations it shall not put the city to any expense and that its rates to its customers shall be reasonable. The Nelson Water Company's source of supply is a.spring. The company serves residents in Nel- son’s Addition in the Northeast part of the city, the system ex- tending south of the Addition to about Sixth and Harris Strests. | The principal stockholders are |Mrs. R.
