Hayden, ploneer Alacka mining | man, on June 15. Mr. Hayden came to Alaska in the early days and for many years residéd at Seward nd 'in that vicinity. He was mar-~ ried there to Miss Betsy Graff, who survives him. Mr. Hayden was born at Olympia, Washington, about sixty years ago, when his father Major J. L. Jim Hayden was one of the best knowr dand best liked of Alaskans during his residence in Alaska and during the swbsequent years that he has resided in Seattle and San Fr sco. The Hayden home in Scat'le, where Jim and Betsy were nd of entertaining Alaskans for many years, was a favored haunt of their Alaska friends. They were charming They moved to San Francisco several years ago. Death came to Mr. Hayden sud~ denly. He had been ill for sik months or more, but was up and not worse than usual.
