This Metro-Goldwyn-Ma- yer’s photoplay is based on Fred-| erick Lonsdale’s London stage hit, | “The High Road.” Miss Chatterton plays an actress who through a betrothal is brought | into a family of British peers. Dynamites Customs How she upsets tradition, dyna-| mites hidebound customs, and fin- ally sacrifices her own happiness for that of another woman in the aristocratic set constitute the theme of the drama. The story is of the smart Eng- lish drawing-room type centering about an actress who through un- expected circumstances becomes engaged to the son of a British peer. Parental opposition resolves itself into strategy and she is asked to remain in the home of the aristocratic family in order that she may accustom herself to the ways of society. Instead so- ciety accustoms itself to her. Variety of Characters The characters vary from mon- ocled lords and haughty dowagers to the droll cockney father of the actress. Elaborate replicas of British manor houses and other effective staging mark the production. The tennis match sequence is a close copy of such an affair in England. The supporting cast includes Ba- sil Rathbone, Nance O'Neil, Fred Kerr and MacKenzie Ward, who played in the original Londén stage presentation; Effie Ellser, Ralph Forbes, who is Ruth Chatterton’s husband, Cyril Chadwick, Moon Carroll, Edgar Norton and Robert Bolder.
