'SOUP TO NUTS' | OPENS TONIGHT AT GOLISEUM Comedy Bas'ed' on Gold- berg's Original Story Heads Program Comedy based on the situations of everyday life, and a love story that might have been enacted be- tween the young couple next door, features Rube Goldberg’s contri- bution to screen mirth, “Soup to Nuts,” head the attraction at the Colj- seum theatre tonight and tomor- row night. ‘Ted Healy and his gang of Rack- eteers head the list of fun makers which includes Frances McCoy, Charles Winninger, Stanley Smith, Hallam Cooley, George Bickel and William H. Tooker. Smith and Miss Browne Smith, popular young juvenile, and Lucile Browne are the lovers around which the farcical plot revolves. Benjamin Storloff, veteran direc- tor for Fox Films, handled the megaphone on this story from the pen of one of America’s foremost cartoonists. The story unfolds with the ef- forts of an enterprising young man to win the love of a girl whose uncle’s business had been brought to ruin through neglect. Complications Arise Complications arise when the girl learns that the boy is taking over the business through the fact that his father is the chief creditor. She refuses to have anything what- soever to do with him. From this auspicious beginning, their affair advances from bad to worse, each step being augmented by the clowning of ‘Ted Healy who portrays the “wise guy” salesman in the picture. Finally, tbe business burns, which brings things to a disastrous cli- max save for one fortunate inci- dent. Howard J. Green wrote the audible screen adaptation for “Soup to Nuts” from Rube Goldberg’s ori- ginal story and dialogue. ~ e - TO TELEPHONE PATRONS A new telephone" directory is now in course of preparation.
