Wright, President of the Pioneers Airways of Alaska, and Alfred Howe, to Benjamin Island, in Lynn Canal, the sea- plane Northbird, Pilot Ray Howard, made a flight from Ketchikan late yesterday afternoon. She passed over Juneau in going to her des- tination and then, after leaving her passengers at an outing camp, returned to this city, and spent last night at the hangar of the Alaska-Washington Airways. She flew back to Ketchikan today. Outing of Several Days Mr. Wright and Mr. Howe plan | | Two Daughters Beat- Strangled MATTCCN, I, May 20.—Mrs, Carric Bowers was shot to death and her two daughters, aged two and five years, were strangled and beaten to death by a ‘man believed to be J. M. Johnson, formerly of Arkansas, who then walked to the police station and cconfessed. Johnson would not further iden- tify himself. He came here with the Bowers and posed as a former em- ploye of Mrs. Bowers' husband who died recently. Jchnsorr confessed setting fire to the house in which they lived. Mrs. Bowers and her daughters es- to spend at least several days on, caped from the blazing building, Benjamin Island. After- wards, Mr. Gilbert chartered the plane for patrol work and then returned to Funter.
