ALASKAN MINK SELLS HIGH ON [znccor o+ === |§ GCLEANING UP LONDON MART Price Paid Is Forty Percent Higher than for Other Offerings A shipment of mink skins from the Chilkoot Fur Farm brought highest prices at the February fur sale of Lampson & Co., held in London. The Skins were in com- petition with world wide offerings. The price realized was sixty-one| shillings and sixpence per skin.| The owners state that this price is| below normal, but considering con- ! ditions is very satisfactory. This price was over forty per cent high-| er than any other skins sold. ] The Chilkoot Fur Farm located at Haines, and owned by Stans- field Brothers, has made a re- markable record the last several years. Starting in the fall of 1924 with a very small amount of stock it has rapidly expanded and is now considered one of the larg- est fur farms in the Territory. One of the owners said: “The fur farming industry in Alaska has a big opportunity for| the future provided the ranchers are given some backing.
