Service Rendered by Experts 1 | | | L WOOD SHINGLES STAND GRUELLING TEQT: ‘The disastrous fire which destroyed a concrete warchouse at Salem, Ore., gave a convincing demonstration of the fact that wood-shingled roofs are not the fire risk that the advocates of competing materials so often represent them to be. This warehouse contained 6,000 bales of hops and 1,000 tons xfi of paper. The fire was so intense tha’, the concrete walls crumbled under the tremendous heat and collapsed. The roar- . ing updraft from the fire carried showers of burning embers to the roofs for blocks around, most of which were covered with cedar shingles. No secondary fires resulted. — (Reprint Irom Lumber Bulletin.) USE ALASKA RED CEDAR SHINGLES Juneau Lumber Mills, Inc. PHONE 358
