ELKS DROPPED BY LEGION IN SALL CONTEST Bills Fail to Connect with Manning’s Deliveries and Lose 6 to 1 2 had an easy time wlth‘ ks team last night in the Bills' final game of the first half when he allowed only four hits and fanned eight men to win for the Legion 6 to 1. The win put the Vets a full game ahead cf the Moose again, and gave them a better hold on the top rung of the ladder. The contest was a loose affair, for the Legion hit 10 times and scored in three innings, while-the Elks scored their single mark in the sixth although the Vets made seven errors behind their pitcher. Score First Inning Livingstone crossed the rubber after he had doubled and Coughlin cingled. In the third Sabin sin- gled. Livingstone singled but was out at second on a fielder’s choice, Coughlin reaching first and Sabin going to third. Coughlin went to second on a passed ball. Manning was given life when the field played for Sabin at home but failed to get him. J. Schmitz fanned and Thomas doubled,. scoring Coughlin. In the last of the sixih ihe Vets | tied up the game. Roller was safe on an error, and went to second on the play. Niemi singled. Koski also singled, sending Roller home and Niemi to second. Livingstone was safe on a fielder's choice, while Niemi was out at third. Another crror put Coughlin on first, while Livingstone and Koski each ad- vanced a sack, filling them up Manning popped out. The third error of the inning was good for two scores as Koski and Living- stone crossed the pan. | The lone run of the Elks came in | the first half of this canto. Junge singled. Heinke was out at first and Junge went to second. Gallwas was given life at first on a wild throw from third base which al- lowed Junge to cross the rubber.
