In the limited confines of a the- atre stage, “Twin Beds” was a hi- larious affair indeed; with the screen’s wider scope, it is even funnier and more complicated. Patsy Ruth Miller, Mulhall's leading lady, portrays a “hello girl” in the story and some of the scénes are at a large switchboard with many girls answering calls. ] The cast includes Eddie Grib- bon, Armand Kaliz, Gertrude Astor, Alice Lake, Knute Erickson, Ben Hendricks, Jr., James Ford, Edythe Chapman and Zasu Pitts. An all-star cast will present thls First National picture, which directed by Ralph Dawson. Loretta Young, beautiful yonm! RIVER After spending a month up the Whiting river in the vicinity of Lake Crescent, Mr. and Mrs. Vic- tor Manville returned to Juneau yesterday. Manville has been on a prospect- ing trip up the Whiting in thé borderline distriet, ‘but reported finding nothing particularly good. ‘While up river, he- brought down hree brown bears. Pictures which he took show the boundary line on a mountain up the Whiting. There has been some argument, according Yo Manville, as to the existence of a boundary there. The Canadians, he said, have cut a 30-foot strip through the for- est to mark the line, and also have placed monuments at the bottom of at least one of the mountains to mark the place where British Co- lumbia and Alaska meet. ‘He reported brown bear in large numbers, very few beavers and some big trout in Lake Crescent, which is covered with ice. The en- tire country has @ good covering: of snow, he said. Among other things of interest in the Lake country, is the exis- tence of seals in Lake Crescent. Ap- parently, Manville said, they went up river in the:fall and remained in the lake all winter, living on the fish.. = Numerous seals were seen sunning themselves on ice. He and Mrs. Manville made the trip from Lake Crescent to Juneau in five hours. —_———— : Dell E. Sneriff, Juneau’s plano tuner.
