The famous biennial baseball game between the Democrats and {Republicans in the House probably will be played within a few weeks, fand the Arizona pitcher wants to (be ready. He and Tommy McMil- lan, captain and catcher for the Democrats, steal away often in the afternoons to toss a few. | In 1928, behind Douglas' pitch- :ing, the Democrats won a smashing 136 to 4 victory over the Republi- cans. They are confident that they can repeat this year if the Re- publicans are willing to play them. Most of the members of the 1928 (téeam are still in Congress. Also, the Democrati¢ ranks have ybeen augmented by Bill Granfield of Massachusetts. Granfield once ‘played in the International League and tried out with Cincinnati. So Goes Eleciion “As goes the ball game so goes| the election.” | This is the time honored slogan of these Congressional baseball games. Captain McMillan believes that for the first time in a great many years, 1030 may see this come | true. Should this game be played—and e s A Washington Bystander The Congressional Club, compos- ed of the wives, daughters and sis- | ters of member of Congress, are sponsors for these games. The club has realized thousands of dollars for them. In 1928, Representative Sol Bloom paid $650 for the first ball pitehed. He was the highest bidder in an auction.
