UNION SERVICES COMING SUNDAY, JCONGREGATIONS The Rev. Sm to Preach| at Both Methodist and Presbyterian According to announcement made today by the officers of the Pres- | byterian and Methodist churches, special union services will be held in their respective churches here on Sunday, at which time the Rev.| Herbert Booth Smith, D. D., Pas- tor of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles, Cal, will| preach. Rev. Smith will preach at the Presbyterian Church at 11 a. m, Sunday morning and at the Methodist Church at 8 o'clock in the evening. “The people of Jumeau will have a rare opportunity to hear one of the leading ministers of the States,” declared one of the officers of |h|‘ Presbyterian Church today, “as Dr. Smith is Pastor of the second larg- est Presbyterian church in the United States, having a member- | ship of 4,000. They have just (nm-‘ pleted a million dollar church, and | Dr. Smith preaches regularly to | one of the largest congregations in | the United States.” In addition to his work as P"fi— tor, Dr. Smith is also author of three well known books. He is F’i:! President of the Ministerial Alli- ance and has been Commissioner to the General Assembly several times. | Dr. Smith came to Alaska a few | weeks ago with & tourist party| and was induced to stop over in Juneau for the week-end.
