Palace (—The cle Thompson anc tells a simple story of a picturesque character. The story proved a tremendous success in its long stage presenta- tion in almost every city in Ameri- ca, and with Jean Hersh one of the most celebrated actors on the screen, in the rich role of the gambler, who covers his real occu- pation under the benign exterior of a deacon, a very worthwhile pic- ture should be the result. In addition to the character star, the cast of the picture includes Ralph Graves, June Marlowe, Myr- tle Stedman, Lincoln Plummer, Ned Sparks, Maurice Murphy, Tom Ken- nedy and others. “Alias the Deacon” was adapted by Charles Kenyon from the stage success by John B. Hymer. " “BABY STEALERS” IS is at the Coliseum tonight for the last time. Review of this pro- duction which was staged for the first time in Juneau last night, ap- pears elsewhere. B “STOLEN KISSES” SETS MAY IN GAY PAREE | 5 “A rollicking, fluffy bit of bright- ness” was the description that came from Holiywood regarding May Mc- Avoy’s new Warner Bros. starring vehicle, “Stolen Kisses,” which is showing at the Coliseum tomorrow night. The description is correct. Many of the scenes in this farcial comedy are laid in Paris with the famous Folies Bergeres occupying an im- portant place in the story. There is much gayety in the picture, which has a notable cast embracing Reed Howes, Hallam Cooley, Claude Gillingwater, Arthur Hoyt, Edna Murphy, Agnes Franey and Phyllis Crane. Seldom, if ever, has a Juneau audicnce been so entertained by a| play put on here, and the fact that it was rehearsed within twelve days makes the success of the show seem even more remarkable. The singing and dancing bits were well done and the bock of the show unusually clever. The situa-) tions in the book were brought| about by the fact that Zoie Hardy |“a little disturber,” played by Mrs. Ura McNaughtan, simply couldn't | tell the truth to her unhumorous husbhand. The fibs grew in magni- tude, one leading to another until |the climax, when Alfred Hardy, & { baby lover, well acted by Marvin | Sides, discovered that the triplets | which he thought were his, really belonged to the washerwoman and |the children’s home. LITTLE CLARICE has apparently mistaken her fellow passenger for the zebra Mummie pro- mised to show her at the Zoo. And the gentle soul to the left is likewise a bit disturbed by the above display of poor taste in hosiery. Small wonder the fellow buries his head ostrich-like behind a paper. Even the wariest of us seem somehow te go astray in our-choice of hosiery. That is, unless we have learned what so-many others have, that Holeproof Hosiery is always in good taste. Holeproof colours and patterns are smart and dis- tinctive. They are fashion’s latest and appeal to the ' discriminating * gentleman ' of unquestioned good taste. And Holeproof offers economy as well; it gives 3 to 4 times more wear than any other hose. In facty wear has.built for Holeproof Hosiery a world wide reputation. * Representative BEN C.
