The third hit came in the seventh and was wasted. The Elks had a ballocn ascension in the second inning and before t could get back to solid ground the Paps had chalked up seven scores to add to the run they had acquired in the opening frame. How It Happened In the opening stanza Shorty Roberts singled past third, and, after two were retired, advanced by a Pete hi to second when Bill Schmitz was| hit by a pitched ball. Roberts scored from second on Vale's sin- gle to center. English fanned for / the third out. In the second ealamity overtook« the Bills. Nellp walked and was sent along to second by Hollmann's sacrifice. Ashby singled to right and Nello scored. Shorty Roberts was thrown out at first by Koski.! J. Schmitz bobbled Junge’s ground- er and all hands were safe. Pete Schmitz hit for two bases into deep right scoring Ashby,, Junge going to third. Bill Schmitz, singled to left and Junge scored, | Pete to third. Vale singled througlf short, and Pete scored and Bill| Scored. A wild pitch sent Vale to third. English, batting for the second time in the frame walked. Koski retired in favor of J. Schmitz. Nello singled to center and Shaw misplayed the ball, English scor- ing. Hollmann was thrown ou! st by M. McSpadden. Five two errors and seven runs. Jack Schmitz was touched for one hit in the third and two in the fourth, but held the Paps scoreless the rest of the game.
