There has been a gradual increase in the demand for the last two weeks, brokers reported. Buy- éers are inquiring both as to all tall standards. Pinks prices -are for $1.65 and $1.75 f. 0. b. Seattle for May ship- ments. Offerings of pale pinks are being made at $145 and $1.50 here. Alaska reds are firm at $275 f. o. b. Seattle, for talls and $2 for halves. It is estimated that there are not more than 15,000 cases of Al- aska reds remaining from the total pack of 2,000,000 cases. The first reds are not available for the next 60 days and this has created an active market for this grade. The demand for chums is good. Local brokers are quoting $1.40 for tall choice Alaska f. o. b. Seattle. It is intimated by some the trade will soon advance Alaska chums 10 cents as indications point to a smaller pack than last year.
