After the first inning, however, Lyons held the Browns in check until he was forced to retire in the eighth inning when he was injured in making an assist. WIERD BURLESQUE PORTLAND, Auril 26.—A weird burlesque of bases on balls, runs forced in and wild tosses in the Portland half of the eighth in- ning yesterday afternoon gave the game to Portland after the Indians appeared to have it on ice by a lead of 3 to 1. The trial began Wednesday morning. Attorneys Henry Roden and Robert C. Hur- ley represented the defendant and Assistant U. S. Attorney George B. Folta the government. All members of the petit jury re- ported this morning and were ex- cused until tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock, when the trial of Fran- ces Foster, charged with an offense sxmflar to that of Polak, is expect- ed to begin. April 26— Discounting fishermen’s pleas for conservation of salmon, Al Hager, representing the Canadian Fishing Company, Ltd.,, told Judge J. T.
