STEAMBOAT CAPTAIN TAKES TO AIR, DESERTS DOGS “No more dogteams and over- flowed trails for me declared Capt. George Green, pioneer navi- gator of Alaska rivers, who is a passenger on the steamer ‘Yukon for Seward, enroute to Bethel to prepare for the season of 1929 on the Kuskokwim River. He is as- goclated with Capt. Wallace Lang- léy in the operation of steamers on that stream. Gapt. Green for years was almost as noted for his prowess as a mush- er, and driver of huskies as for his skill as navigator of tricky currents of interior waterways. But he has quit his four-footed friends for the airplane. It is his intention to fly from Anchorage to Bethel, saving time, money and more or less trouble and worry. ———————— .
