L B, S AT Boats ( The racing cruisers of the second Capital-Capital yacht race will leave | Olympia, Wash., for Juneau, at| noon on June nouncement made in Olympia by B. F. Hume, Secretary of the Rules | Committee. The race is sponsored by a joint committee of the Olympia and Ju- neau Chambers of Commerce and Olympia Yacht Club, The race is run_ under the sanction of the American Power Boat Association. { The Rules at a recent meeting held in Olym- pia, concerned themselves mainly with rules and regulations expect ed to govern the lor tr th year. The 1928 race rules were I viéwed and discussed with a viev to making changes that might seem \ ° justified by experience. ‘. It was decided to add a third] division of boats to permit larger cmiisers to enter the race. The 1928 divisions were for boats 25 to 49 feet, and 40 to 65 feet in length This year boats 65 to 150 feet may enter. In connection with this :xnge it was decided to permit only gas and Diesel-powered | o craft to compete, but steam-power- | o ed yachts as well. Handicap Event The race, as in 1928, will be on ndicap, and a sub-committee wa: named to work out, if possible, system of handicaps that will make fOF a closer finish at Juneau. This committee is to report at the next| rules committee meeting. It was decided that boats capable of maintaining at least seven-knot| speed may enter; and the race is to start from Olympia with all boats | on the starting line. Q@wners of racing boats must be| All| members of a yacht club. bpats must be in Olympia and sub ject to official inspection by 7 p.m. the day preceding the race. En- tries must be made 15 days before start of the race and accompanied | by $25 entry fee. turnable if the boat starts and con- tinges in the race for 24 hours. No judges, timekeepers or other race officials may be members of crews of the contesting boats. The minimum crew may be three men. Time allowances for stop- overs, re-fueling, repairing, etc., are | yet to be determined. Last year stx hours per day was allowed, and was cumulative. It is probable that four hours per day will be the al- lowance this year, but whether or| not the time will be cumulative is yet to be decided, Closer Finish Wanted Special efforts will be made to provide a closer finish at Juneau this year than last, when the first boat in Juneau was almost four days ahead of the last. Yacht club representatives prescm at the recent meeting were: Queen Oty Yacht club (Seattle)—Jack Power, Ray Stickler, and C. F. Wheeler; Seattle Yacht club—Rich- ard PFroboese, and W. M. Meacham Tacoma Yacht club—Dr. S. L. Blair and F. L. Baker; and Olympia Yaeht club—John Pierce and A@6lph Schmidt as rules commit- te§ representatives, and Joe Speck- arf #nd B. F. Hume, of the Olym- pi& Shamber of Commerce, is sec- retary. tions are for entry of at b a dozen yachts in this year's raee, according to committeemen, sinée two California yacht owners havé signified their intentions of cafering and Seattle, Tacoma, Bel- liggham and Olympia yachismen aré reported enthusiastic over race préspects. —ll NOTICE ©On and after March 18, I am Jonger responsible for any other my peuonu debts. —ady. .
