All business will practical- ly be suspended tomorrow and the day will be cele- brated in old-fashioned style with a mixture of modern- ism. The big noise producer to- night will be the American Legion smoker in A. B. Hall. Both theatres are also offer- ing good programs for both shows. There will also be a dance in the Fair Build- ing. Hubert Work departed from here with the definite assurance from President Coolidge that the lat- ter will help the Republican cause in the forthcoming campaign. Dr. Work also presented his signation to the President as of the Interior. His successor has not been named. Work will give all of his atten- tion to the duties of Chairman of the Republican National Commit- tee. After a four hour visit at the Summer White House, Dr. Work said he had not asked the Presi- dent how he proposed to con- tribute to the Republican cam- paign and did not suggest any pos- sible way to the Chief Executive but is satisfied with Coolldge's assurance he will do everything he could. Samuelson, representa- tive of the General Petroleum Cempany, who has been to Yaka- taga on the Sunwing, company tender, returned to Juneau yes- terday morning and is staying at the Zynda Hotel. At Yakataga, the company drilling outfit was taken from the field and shipped south, Mr. Samuelson said, and.the company has discontinued its operations there.
