In its new educational directory, the bureau lists 57 women college and uni-| versity presidents in office in 1928. The directory for 12 years ago lists but 24 women college ex- ecutives and most of them were heads of women's seminaries and finishing schools that gave a col- lege degree. Almost.all the large Bastern women’s collges now are presided over by women execu- tives. This year's list shows that there are seven women in the position of state superintendent of public instruction, 40 who are city superintendents of schools and 900 who are county or dis- trict superintendents of schools. The number of women county superintendents has doubled in the past 12 years. There is only one State that does not have at least one woman school execu- tive. _There is one woman head of a division of the Bureau of Educa- tion, one who heads a law school and one a school of medicine. While many of the schools of theology, istry, pharmaey and veterinary medicine have women on their faculties, none has a woman as chief executive. .
