SUICIDE PACT HALF FINISHED Man Kills Eman But Loses His Nerve—Con- fession Is Made PHILADELPHIA, Penn.,, Feb. 14.—A gruesome tale has been unfolded in Clyde Campbell’s con- fession of how he crushed the head of a woman he said was his wife, eight days ago, after they entered into a suicide pact, and now under investigation. The police said Campbell told them he lost his nerve and de-: cided to postpome taking his own lite -until afer he had paid off hik debts he owed his friends. Financial reverses and inabil- ity to obtain employment, were given as the reason for the act, sald’ Campbell. Trailed by detectives, Campbell was arrested yesterday at a lodg- ing house conducted by the Vol- unteers of America.
