Switch Is Made in Hoop Schedule when Douglas Declmes Local Game The ouneau ¥ire Department . cagers will taky on the Alask: Colleg: fast five Sunday after noon at 3 o'clock, instead of the College playing the Douglas High School's feam, it was announced today. The Island cagemen de clined to cross the Channel tc meet the Collegians and the switch in the schedule was ther: by made necessary. The decision to play all three games here was made by Coach Abel, of the College, who wired from Ketchikan: carly this week to that end. With both loca teams billed for a game Saturday night, the Sunday afternoon date was given Douglas High, whow the Collegians desired to meet, by the schedule makers.' Friday af ternoon Superintendent 0. F. O) sen, of the Douglas school, saic this was not aceeptable to the school and, also, that the schoo! while anxious to play the Collegi ans, would not do so except on its home floor in the Douglas Natatorium. In this attitude, the scheol is supported gemerally in Douglas by public sentiment. This may mean that the Island- ers and the College will not mee! It seems unlikely . that the sche dule can be rearranged to pro vide for an additional game unless it be fixed for either Monday or Tuesday afternoon. As the Col- lege squad has had a strenuou¢ schedule since starting on it journey and has traveled a long distance, it may not feel justified in playing .two games in a single day, which would be necessitated under such a plan. The three games advertised to be played in A. B. Hall will have to be carried out according to the schedule as series tickete have been sold on that bagis Unless Coach Abel is able to make different arrangements, the Firemen, playing the Collegianz Sunday afternoon, will also play them Tuesday evening, leaving the Juneau High School date un- changed from Monday evening a: scheduled. The Collegians will arrive here tonight on the Admiral Roger: from Ketchikan. They emerged from the series there undefeated They came through the games without any casualties so far ‘as is known here and should be in excellent condition to take the floor tomorrow afternoon. The squad should-be at top form aad capable of putting up a fine ex- hibition of basketball. The Firemen will have the Barragar, who was injured in the Jouglas High game a week ..:,-n, 1as almost completely recove wd is fit to be used. He, M;\n van, Garnick and Ellingen will he nsed in the guard positions Campen, the rangy center, is playing the best game of his ca- reer and will give the Collegians something to think about.
