Two former United States De- pnty Marshals, a former Sheriff and a former Postmaster were named in the indictment, togeth- er with roadhouse owners, saloon- keepers and reputed beer run- ners. One of those indicted was Alfred H. Pouse, former State’s Attorney of McHenry County, who disappeared on the eve of the Government’s investigation there. The former Deputy United States Marshals—Samuel M. Wes- s¢l and Charles Dibble — are charged with srving temporary injunctions on roadhouse pro- prietors and then exacting $100 to $500 on promise not to close the places.
