McKinley National Park und westward to Rainy Pass in th Alaska Range including the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak; from the Fairbanks headquarters all projects in Tanana and Yukon Valleys be- tween Kagle and Kaltag extendin south to the Kantishna and the i n the since all to be in in charge of Poorman in the Ruby district and north to the Endicott Range including primarily the Koyukuk and Chandlar mining districts, located well within Arctic Circle. All these projects will, be administered at the meeting of the Road Commission superinten dents System of Roads In these four districts are ex pended the bulk of the federal fund: on a connected system of roads and trails from epen south ports to all inhabited parts of the Toritoy. These projects tie into the Alaska Railroad at 27 different stations. The Rich. ardson Highway —Alaska Railroad Loop, now known as the Golden Belt Line, forms the backbone of the system and the base of supplies to most of the interior country. | Due to the remoteness of Nome nd Tacotna, the superintendents from those two districts are brought' to Juneau only every other year Carl F. Lotsfeld, superintendent of, the Tacotna district at the hea quarters of the Kuskoquim, spent| several weeks in Juneau this winter when on his biennial vacation on his w south for a trip to the States ‘ Superintendent Lotsfeld has now re- turned to his headquarters at Ta- cotna. Ross J. Young should have arrived at Bethel after a three-hour flight but latest wireless communica- tions state that he has not ar- rived there. There is a 60-mile gale blow- ing and the temperature is 25 degrees below zero. It is feared here that Young was forced to land on the track- less frozen wastes of the tundra between Iditarod and Bethel.
