COUNTY SEAT NEWS ITEMS. Board of county commission- ers met in the court house in Grangeville Monday, sitting as a board of equalization. Mr. and Mrs, John Mundt are the proud parents ofa little daughter, the little miss arriving Monday. Dr. Stockton was the attending physician. Mrs. W. H. Eller, wife of Sher- iff Eller, is the only Grangeville woman reported to have killed a deer during the season just closed. She killed the deer in the South Fork country. Miss Elizabeth Eimers has been appointed local for the Pacific States Telephone company, succeeding Miss. Sadie Robinson, resigned. Miss Eimers has been local manager for the Nezperce Telephone company. Henry Elfers, O, O. Gordon and Tom Martin were in the city this week from Lucile. of cattle, the property of Messrs. Elfers and Gordon. The cattle were sold to Sam Jones, who will take them to Toppenish, Wash. Edwin Nelson, prominent rancher of the Denver section, was in Grangeville this week and was a pleasant caller at the Free Press office. Johnson of the Sarvis Flat section early this week kil- led a cougar that measured 814 feet from tip to tip. Mr. John- son discovered the animal’s track near his home and soon had his dogs on the trail. The dogs treed the cougar on White- bird creek where Mr. Johnson soon put an end to the cattle thief. Dr. P. J. Scallon, who for almost three years has practiced medicine in Gtangeville, expects in company with Mrs, Scallon, to depart within the next ten days for Aberdeen, Wn., where Dr, Scallon will engage in the prac- tice of his profession. His practice in Grangeville has been acquired by Dr. Bingham-Davis, wife of George Davis, well- known South Fork mining man. Dr. Davis formerly practiced medicine in Puyallup, Wn. Three horses lost in the moun- tains, is the cost of a hunting trip to Ed Chase, Floyd Manning and H, E. Patton, who returned the first of the week from the mountains with two deer, one a 7-point buck, killed by Mr. Chase Mr. Manning killed a doe, while Mr. Patton failed to bring home a trophy. The horses, two of which belonged to Mr. Chase and one to Mr. Patton, were turned into a pasture at the Lloyd Day ranch, and when the men went for the horses they were not to he found.
