Harchelrode, who form- erly lived in the Winona section, but who now resides in Califor- nia, was in Grangeville this week on a brief visit. County Agent John Finley is confined to his home this week with a severe cold. At the present time he is able to be about the house and expects to be at his office in the near fut- ure, Dr. R. J. Alcorn, who has of- fice rooms in the Telcher block, recently added a portable X-Ray machine to his already extensive equiptment which will be of vast assistance to him in his practice. Approximately 4000 head of sheep were dipped for scabies in v/a tank erected at the stockyards PUBLIC in Grangeville. The dipping process required two and a half days, and continued from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. Numerous spectators watched the dipping of the sheep. Edward M., Griffith of Grange ville, and W. C. MeNutt, of Elk City, have been appointed by Governor Davis delegates to the American Mining congress, to be held in St. Louis, November 17 to 21, Eight men prominent in mining in Idaho, were includ- ed in the appointments. Frank J. Jefferson, formerly of Grangeville has been appoint- ed supervisor of the Selway National forest, with offices in Kooskia. He will succeed Supervisor Howell, resigned. Mr. Jefferson, who was assistant supervisor of the Nezperce Nat- ional forest, was transferred early in the summer to the of- fice of the Clearwater forest, at Orofino, where he was Mice eo ee in special fire work. S. V. Fullaway jr., supervisor of the Nezperce National forest has been appointed special lect- urer on forest administration, at the University of Idaho short course in forestry, to be held at Moscow November 8 to March 28. Mr. Fullaway’s lectures will cover about a week. The short course at the universiiy is intende@ to fit men for civil service examinations for the position of ranger in the nation- al forests. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Howard arrived in Grangeville Saturday night from Portland, where they were married a few days prev- iously. Mrs. Howard who was Miss Iren Parsons, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Parsons, former residents of Grangeville, and who removed about two years ago to Oretown, Ore. The newely-married couple will re- side here. Four hundred acres, known as the Mulhall ranch, near Denver, was sold this week by Albert Fray to J. W. Knight. This land was purchased last spring by Mr. Fray and it is understood that he realized a nice profit over his buying price. One hun- dred and sixty acres, kelonging to Mr. Knight situated 9 miles northesat from this city, was in the consideration, of which Mr. Fray becomes the owner. The sale was made through the agency of L. M. Harris.
