Our “Tip Top” and “Idaho Gold” flour is handled by the ‘Twin Falls county farm bureau, ot which about 2000 were sup- plied. In the same period, be- tween 3500 and 4000 applica- tions were made for work on farms and at construction work. Adds $1,000,000 To Crops. An increase of $1,000,000 in the value of the Twin Falls ir- rigated wheat crop is estimated by County Agent Charles ti. Bohrer to be the result of the introduction of pure Dicklew seed. His estimate is that there has been an increase of five bu- shels to the acre on 100,00 acres, but he says some of the elevator men have placed the increase at 10 bushels. Poison Saves $10,000 Approximately $10,000 is thus far reported by Bonner county farmers to have been saved by the campaign for poisoning ro- dents. These reports are from about two-thirds of the men who used the poison which was sup- plied by the farm bureau. The net saving this year was about $2 per acre per the land poisoned and about $100 per acre for the men reporting. Would Re-seed Burned Areas. The Nez Perce county farm bureau has taken the initiative in urging that the burned-over sections of the national forests be re-seeded, in order that these lands be not lost to the livestock industry for the period of years necessary for volunteer re-seed- ing. Resolutions to this effect were passed by the farm bureau executive committee and trans- mitted to the forestry depart- ment. Other counties are asked to cooperate. Will Improve Indian Lands. Reports from Lapwai, in Nez Perce county, indicate that the present system of Indian land leasing makes poor provision for the maintenance of soil fer- tility. To correct this defect, the farm bureau has made a pro- posal that stipulations for crop rotation be laid down in con- tracts by the Indian agent and also that leases run for five years, rather than for three as at present. Eleven Crop Retations. Eleven definite crop rotations, on as many _ representative farms, are being carried out in Bonner county, to ascertain if possible the best crop rotations and the necessary tillage meth- ods for local farming conditions. The experiments are being con- ducted under supervision of E. B. Hitchcock, soils specialist of the extension division of the University of Idaho.
