BIEKER, Cashier | eFRIDAY SEPT.. 12, 1919. | SSS <==] ALL MUST PAY. | There is one phase of the high cost of living question that! seems to be generally overlooked | It is that each and every person | must bear a share of the burden | occasioned by the world war. | When it is recalled that the! war cost the nations of the earth | about $220,000,000,000, accord- ing to the experts and it is! borne in mind that the money of | the world amounts to only about $10,000,000,000 it will be readily | seen that there isn’t enough money to pay the bill. Of the! money of the world something like $8,000,000,000 or more is in the United States, which it is estimated has about 40 per cent | of the total for the world. | Now with this enormous debt} facing the world and_ not} enough money to pay, the sole} question is how is it going to be | met? LIBERTR VS. LICENSE. | One of the features of the} session of the National Editorial! Bedsteads Library Tables Lounges Dining Tables Association, was an address by | Dr. Suzzalo, president of the) Davenports Dressers University of Washington. He made plain the true mean- ing of our basic national princi- | ples of liberty and free speech. There is an extreme to which so- called liberty may go when it | ceases to be liberty, and becomes | license, he declared. When per- sons go so far in the practice of their “Liberty” as to hinder the | welfare of others, whether it be) bomb throwing, sabotage, arson or class hatred on one side, o: the overbearing acts of monopl and capital on the other, it ceas- | es to be liberty but is merely license, which is Vitally danger- ous to our natonal welfare. The remains of a soldier were uncovered Tuesday by one of the steam shovels working on the north and south state high- way near Whitebird. The re- mains were found near the scene of the Whitebird battle with the Nez Perces_ in 1877 at which time 38 soldiers were killed, Several years latter the bodies of the soldiers were removed to Fort Vancouver but the body uncovered Tuesday was missed. The remains were identified as those of a soldier by the presence of the U. S. army buckle and the cavalry spur found on one of the boots. | The remains will be re- interred near the former resting place and a suitable monument will be provided.
