COUNTY SEAT NEWS ITEMS Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Manning who sperit the past two weeks vis- iting with relatives in the city, returned to their ranch west of town the fore part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Manning contem- plate leaving here between the first and middle of April for an extende1 visit to their former home in Missouri which they have not visited for many years. It is now Dr. Edward J. Coram. This Grangeville young man was graduated from the medical col- lege of the University of Michi- gan, Ann Arbor, on March 20. Announcements of his gradua- tion have been received by Grangeville friends of Dr. Coram who isa son of Mr. and Mrs. John Coram of this city. A marriage which will call forth the well wishes of their friends in this city was that of Miss Alice Wright and E, W. Mattox, who were wedded Sunday by the Rev. J. A. Pine. Mr. Mattox isa young farmer of Camas Prairie while his bride, recently of Rochester, N. Y., isa sister of Mrs. Wm. Halford of this city. : Eugene Enice, L. M. Simpson and W. C. Sivyer of Spokane are here on matters in connection with the Grangeville Electric Light & Power Co., and are down atthe plant today. The new dam is just about completed, all of the concrete work having been finished and matters are rapidly shaping themselves so that the company will have ample water with which to produce the power that is much in demand over their lines. John Phillips of Stites was in Grangeville Tuesday transacting business. Mr. Phillips who is a member of the firm of Phillips & Johnson, proprietors of the Stites- Elk City stage line declared that although for a week or more the stage line had difficulty in opera- ting over the mountains because 1|0f deep snow, trouble now has been largely eliminated. T. Thompson, Grangeville jeweler, has been granted a pen- sion for disability suffered while in the military service in the Philippine islands a number of years ago.. Mr. Thompson made application fora pension in 1913 and a special act of congress was required. for his name to be placed on the pension rolls. He has just been advised that he will receive the pension. J.B. Leeper and Editor L. F. Rohrbeck of. Stites were here Monday on business connected with road matters concerning the Clearwater highway district. A very peculiar situation exists in their district. One of their com- missioners, George F.
