» creases Capital Stock. At a meeting of the stockh®ld- ers of the Cottonwood Milling & Elevator Co., Ltd., held in the offices of the company on Monday for the purpose of increasing the capital stock, it was unanimously voted to raise it to $100,000. The company was organized little over a year ago with an au- thorized capital of $40,000, which is fully paid up at the present time. Ata meeting held about two months ago it was decided to erect an additional elevator, feed mill and flour warehouse, contract for which was given to Geo. Gros- hoff of Spokane. The company has met with splendid success ever since it was organized and is now considered the strongest in Idaho county. To give an idea of the size of the new buildings when comple- ted, the company has placed a picture of them in the window of the Hoene “Hdw., which has the contract for furnishing the 1800 barrels of cement to be used for the work. A 30-hp electric motor is being used at the crusher, and the way the teams are kept. busy hauling} proves.the officiency of the work. A carload of steel is to be used for re-inforcing. ~ When completed this mill be a credit not only to Cottonwood and surrounding country, but to the entire state as well. This isa lower percentage than some counties have shown but in- dicates that many families are using too much wheat flour. of wheat flour per month is eating that which should go to our boys in France and our Allies. Most churches, lodges and sim- ilar bodies are refraining from banquets, and all are requested to do so. If, sometime, a feed must be given, let nothing be wasted. Feeding of wheat should be stopped. All wheat within haul- ing distance ofthe railroad should be marketed when seeding is done. SAVE WHEAT. Americans of German Blood The following from Collier’s Weekly contains a lot of good sound sense: There crops up now and then evidence that some people in this country regard a German name as evidence of disloyalty. If they will do so, they will discover that the activity of Americans whose names “sound German” is not confined to Gov- ernment printing; they will find that Americans whose names “sound German” are dying under the Stars and Stripes in France. And perhaps it will oceur to them that you can no more judge a| man’s loyalty to America by the sound of his name than you can by the color of his hair.
