Patriotic Demonstration. One of the most : patriotic com- munity meetings ever held on Camas Prairie was held Sunday, March 31, at the Highland school- house, six miles east of Cotton- wood. The main feature was the rais- ing of a 35-foot flagpole set in ce- ment. While the assembled neighbors sang the “Star Spangl- ed Banner,” J. L. Miller raised the fine new flag. When it float- ed in the breeze, the school child- ren gave the pledge of allegiance and the official salute. The following appropriate pro- gram was then rendered: Song—“Columbia, Gem of the Ocean.” Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address y Opal Mitchell. © Recitation—“Independence Bell,” by Dorothy Jessup. Dialogue—Kenneth Miller and Maud Dodds. Recitation—Mrs. Lee Hanses, Recitation—‘‘Sc hool Master’s Guests,” by Rozilla Oldham. Paper written by 7th Grade— read by Virla Jessup. Song—America. Mrs. Lee Hanses, who is a grad- vate elocutionist, responded to several encores, Next on the program came a feed that would have made Hoover throw up his hands in de- spair, after which the young peo- ple indulged in games, while the others were entertained with songs by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Has- kins and Mrs, Keith. Due credit was given Miss Ruth Miller, the efficient teacher of District No. 20 for the success of the entertainment. The following families were represented: Jessup, Hanses, Pi- geon, Keith, Mitchell, J. L. Mil- ler, Oldham, Heritage, Chas, Mil- ler, Haskins, Fred Cone, Fortin. (By one of those present). The land wheel furnishes the power. Two-to-one gearing causes the bottoms to be raised and lowered in the right distance of. travel to insure straight headlands and at the same time cuts in two the power required to raise the bottoms-- the land wheel never slips. The plow raises on all three wheels, giving a high level lift. AF single trip rope, convenient to the hand of the tractioneer, gives him instant and positive con- trol.. Power lift operates both as bottoms enter and leave the ground, bringing the whole weight of the plow to bear in forcing the bottoms into hardest soils. HOENE HARD O) SS S99 =e SSS Sees!
