Balshury's Troubadours wereagalngreeted last evening by a large audience, and each member of the company met with a welcome the cordial- Ity of which showed very plainly that they had pot been forgotten whils thoy wera gone. It wan here that the troupe was organized, and it was at Hooley's Theatre that thoy won thelr first success, and alnce that time they have been wandering far and wide, gathering fame and fortune, snd perfecting In many wags thelr unique and brilliant entertoln ment, ‘Tho performance opened with the comedietta “Two Can DIlay st That Game,” in_which Mr, Sglsbury, Mr. John ‘Webster, and Miss Nellle Mcllenry assumed the three characters. The real plessuro of the evening, howerer, was in the musfcal extrava- ganza of *The Brook,” which brings Into play the specinl characteristics of the company, Tho plan of the plece is somewhat sinilar to that of some of the Vokes' entertninments, but It is de- veloped In s novel and Interesting way. Refect~ Ing everything In the shape of & plot, Mr. Sals- bury has adopted the simple contrivance of bringing a party of actors out on a pleasure cxcurslon, onit while enjoyiug the de- Mght of plenfcking in A pretty raral spot, they proceed to entertaln each other by trotting out their several specinliies. Of course such a thing would prove exceedingly tamu and stupld in the hamlsof a pasty of tame and stupld perforniers, but it happens that the Troubadours aro abundantly supplied with the kind of talent needed for such a frolicky entertasinment. After alittle necessary prelude of ordluary pienie conversation and ‘Incident, the company ubandon themselves to the mmor of the hour, nad the mirth and fun proceeds at 8o rattliing a poco that the apecta- tor Is not allowed an foterval to analyze tho varlous features of the performance, but is content to join in it, become one of the party, and have a joily time with them. Thoro is fo much good talent In the troupe, and they dis- play such admirable discipline in playing fnto ong anothor's hands, so to speak, that fho effect is singularly pleasing. There 18 ho one member of the party, scomingly, who secks to obtain pre-eminence, but all work together in perfect harmony and for one general effect, It would be ditficult to sclect any one of the performers above another for special distinetion, My, Sals- bury 18 at one time the entertaluer in his capital fmliations and recitations, tmy and gravo; and he presently gives way to Miss Mcflenry, arol- licking romp, endowed with s lively sensvof fun, a pregty, plump figure, and untiving vivacity. Miss 1elone Dingeon, the musical prima donua, has a wweet soprano volee, which she uses with tino effects and her delivery of some German alrs, and the ballad of * Robln Adair," were roward- ad with hearty applsusc and cncores. Mr. Goutlay and Mr. Jubn Webster contribute an important share towards the misth of tho enter- talument, which, without enumerating its varl- ons featurcs In detail, 1s full of Innocent gayety and good humor, and admlirably contrived to furnish an ovening of genuine aniusement, In such & bright, breezy trific as this, which afforda so much rcal fun, It might scem hyper- critical to mark any Dbleinfshes, There is very little fault to be found with the performance, which is frons beginning to end no more than & strennous effort on the part of a company of clever young peaple who have found & rare o portunity to exbibit themselvesand their talents to advautage. If therewere not so much to bo thank{ul for, one might be fuelined to Yearn fur somothing more nearly approuching complete- ness in the ambitious efforts “of Nate Salsbury, a8 when he essays Lo read “The Seven Ares.” It i3 surely not demanding too much of bim to sk that he do not shock our ears with such a bad reading, und mako so many fnoxcusable bluuders. Dut this 1s-not the only bad thing ho ducs, and we suppose he dovs that only to show that he possesscs a certaln veraa- tility, Miss Nellie Mcllenry occupies, as she s dono skuco the organization of the company, the most _canspicuous place in the affections of her ruditors. 8ho is a reasonably flno slug. r and A good dancer, but she ia pdssesscd of a natural faculty of **fun-making” which 1s pecudiarly ealehing, and which to a great ex- tent conatitutes the richeat feature of this aly- enlar aegregation of comic talent, ‘Tho scenle cinbellishments aro unusualiy fine, the picenic scene copeclally, which is a bis of artistic work fult of merit. e Troubsduurs aro 10 be seen all thls week. TI15 OTHER ITOUSES, Mies Clara Brown, a young reader of great promise, will as at the entertainment this evening ot Welsh’s 3all, Stock-Yards, for the benefit of tno Hoptist Church lately destroyed by the storm, At Hamlin's Theatre an interasting varfot, programme was given, the principal feature of which was & burlesque editlon of “PInk Domi- nos,” which was well received. The current issue of the ELEC- TRIC QUARTERLY contunins val- uable information for Invalids and those suffering from Nerv- ous, Exhausting and Painful Dis- eases.. It treats upon the laws of hygiene and physical culture, and shows how perfect bodily health and energy may be fully regained by means of PULVERMACHER'S BLecTaic Brrs —AND — BANDSS. The Best Known Curative Agent! These highly perfected Curative ap- pliances supply to the body mild and continuous currents of Electricity, and in so effective = manner that the most stubborn and complicated diseases yield to their electric influence after every other plan of treatment has failed. They are applicable to either sex, the young and old; and, although applied externally by the patient himself, exert a beneficent and recuperative influence throughout the entire economy. The clectric action begins at once, as soon as the Belt or Band is applied, and the effects are perceptible almost from the start. Cases regarded incurable and of years standing, yicld to their mild but wonderful influence. In no case can the application be attended with the least harmful effects. The action pene- trates every bodily organ, and thus pro- motes Digestion, Excretion, Nutrition, and Circulation, restoring health and vigor to the dcbilitated constitution. Their many valuable qualities and adaptation for medical purposes -ob- tained for them at once full recognition from scientists and the e/ite of the med- ical profession at home and abroad.
