The attendance of ¢itl- zens from the country roundabout has been large, and the Knights have been fully as joyous asusual. The Apollo of Chleago has béen the recipient of unnumbered congratulations on the enceess of its pilgrimage, and especially: of its ‘Tuesday evening reception, which fs conceded to bare been one of the finest events Cicyeland bas ever witnessed. ad there been more room to accommodate the attendance, {ts success would have been without a flaw. ‘THE FEATURE OP TIt8” DAY'S PROCEEDINGS was tie drill for prizes on tho homestrectch of the Cleveland race-track, A space 900 fect square was beautifully leveled off directly in front of the grand stands, ond it gas carly sur- rounded by three rows of carriages, while hun- drets of others could not get in. The stands werd full, and, altogether, there could not have been less than 15,000 people in attendance. The Knights were well accommodated, when not in the fleld, in fly-tents erected for the purpose, THE SCBNE FROM THE SMALL STAND was one of the most beautiful thal can be {m- agined, and the gorgeously-equioped bands, tho splendid appearance of the’ Kuights, and the great stands crowded“with Iadics, made up,a picture never to be forgotten. After preparing to draw lots, it was found that the Cyrene, of Camden, N. J., gad with- drawn, and, at the same time, it was decided to rule out tho St, Louls battalfon, because it was composed of- Knights {rom more than one Com- mendery. In thelr placo the Askalon, of St. Louis, entered and drew third position. THE JUDOES = were Col. Edwatd 8. Meyers, U.S. A.: Col. Albert Barritz, U. 8..A; Maj. J. W. Clauss; Capt. F. A. Tha movements in the formation of a cross, and the right about, wero beautl- fully done, and Jt was evident that Rochester wass formidable competitor for tho first prize. 2 THM THIRD COMPETITOR ‘was tho Huzo do Payens, No. 80, of Buffalo, C. G, Fox in ‘command,-rthirty-six Knights and clght officers, with the Union Band of Buffate. ‘They wero preceded by a prize*pauner which ‘they had won at a former competition, and their drill was wortby of thelr reputation. THE ASKALON OF BT, LOUIS, Georgo W. West in command, had forty swords in ine, and their work was good, though not spe- clully noticeable for neatness of movement, ‘They were accompauted by the band from Jef- ferson Barracks, The sbost part of thelr drilt waa the manual of arms. After a stort inter- tnisslon, the filth place was taken by the Hanste- manu, No. 16, of Cincinnati, d. W. Foot com- manding—thirty-aix Knights and eix officera, with Currler’s Band. The ‘best part of their drill was the celerlty of movement and the gc- turacy with which thoy changed front, though It may be properly sald that tucte drill was not Interesting, because of its inflolte renetition of the same movements. The best-performed maueuyre was threcs full about from company front by divisions, 4 THE SIXTH CONTESTANT was tae Raper, No.. 1, of Indlauapolls, N, R. Ruckle, Pd.
