KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS. NEW LODGE INSTITUTED. The activity in Pythisn Enighthood atill con- tinues. Monday, Nov. 22, Deputy Grand Chan- cellor H. W. Rice visited Galena and performed the pleasant duty of instituting Bazon Lodge Ko. 62, of Galens, Il., after which twenty-tive gentlemen, among whom are some of ihe best citizens of that city, were initiated, proved, and charged, in full chivalric form. The prospects for the newly-instituted Lodge are very flat- tering. i The following evening, Nov. 23, the ssme officer performed like coremony at Sterling, by instituting Corinthian Lodge No. 63, of Ster- ling, IIL, and conferred the rank of the Order upon some twenty candidates. The Grand offi-' cers bave in consideration a petition for a Lodge at Taylorville, TIL THE MORTUARY YUND, The impetus in this order may bein part at- tributed to the excoileat Iaw made at the. test session of the Grand Lodge, providing for a *‘mortusry fund,” which was adopted almost uoenimously. This fund is a matter which has been under consideration by the members of the {rataruity for a loog time, but owwng to a differ- ence of opinion 8s regarda both the raising and disbursing of the money, no final and eatisfactor; settlement of the question was reached until the last Grand Lodge seseion. Of its merit thera is oot & doubt; it not only furnishes a virtual insurance at actual cost to the members of the fraternity, but also assists in providing for the widow and orpban by the whole fraternity, there- by relieving in part 'the financial burden from a0y particniar fodge; it also assista many widows who, througn pride, will not allow their condition finsucially to ba kuown to either the fraternity or otners, FESTIVITY.
