The coneideration of tho queetion of appoint- fng a Miseonary Bishop, which had gone over {rom the iorning -scasion, waa then remmed, Mr, Woodtford isading in an address in favor of Mimissay Rishops being agpainied without limited jurisdiction, and that thoy should go to theends of tho earth in the cstablisbing of chiurches and the confirmation of candidates. Dr. Leacock said the digcassion bad troubled ‘’hi= :aind, and untif the polity of tho Church had boen finally settled ho wns opposed to the ap- ‘pointment of any more Bishops, espocually until their work could be laid out more clearly. When the idea was first broached to him be three {imes refused tho position, and finally only accepted it on the condition that the filling of tha offico ehonld not interfers with his relations to his be- loved parish. If the Bishop was to be made simply »_confirming-machine, as fndicated by Mr. !Joodfard. which would necesaitate lis giv- jog up his pastoral relations, he would ask the Council to name bis successor at ouce. His pecple were' the noblest and most generous, and had stood by him through tho perils of the past few years withs frmnces and a hearrivess that he could not fail to appreciate. [Applause.] Drs. Wilson, Nicholson, Brown, and others foltowed in the discusaion, taking strong ground | against diocssan episcopates. Tho Rev. }Mr. Dammer then moved ' to lay the ‘wholo matter upon the table, which was lost. BISHOP OUMMINS then vacated the chair, and entered icto the further discussion of the quesiion. He was expected to cover the entirs continent, which was impossible with his shattered condition. The question of smending the Prayer-Baock, raised in the farenoon by Dr. Wilson, and waived under the rules, was then called up. ‘A motion to make the question the spesial or- der for to-morrow at 8 o'clock was lost, when- Mr. Johnson introduced the following subati- tate: .
