Tho jury having viowed tho body, i DR. LAMONS, COUNTY PHSRICIAN, 3 rend the following description of the post mor- {om oxamination: I hold a post-mortem oxami- nation of tho body or Patrick Lawless. I found two smnll wounds upon tho hiead, ono at the up- por margin of tho hair of tho contro of the foros hoad, about ono Inch in longth, making a slight fracturo of tho extended table of tho skull,’ suother scalp-would about threo inches belind and to tho right of the above. Those wounda of tho head wore not of a fatal charactor.’ I also found a punctured wound inftho’ lott side of chest at tho uppor portion about ong inchbolow the clavicle, passinginward anddown- ward, sovering the cartilogo of tho second rib, uenr the stornun, puncturing tho chest, Injur- ing tho uppor lobo of tho loft lung, and punc- turing tho poricardium and injuring the surlcu- lar appondago of tho hoart, allowing tho Auids of the pericardium to pnss out into tho cavity ot tho chest, with a large quantity of blood from tho hoart. Tho othor organs of the body wore in a henithy condition. Tho man came to his donth from the hemorrhage produced by tho wound in tho chost. The wound in tho ohost was producod by somo sharp-polnte .nstrument, like o knifo or daggor. The Qoroner produced a knifo which the Doctor said was such » ono ag could inflict the wound in tho chest of decoasod. : MORRIS UUBLEY, a1ad 16 yoars of ago, living in & brick-yard near Wahl's glue factory, being eworn, sald that he did not know docensed. Ho had scen both him and his wifo previonsly. Mot deceasod Sunday ovening in Mre. Wood's, the placo whers the stabbing ocourred, No. 88 Buttorfleld streot. Ho and his mothor wore there, and had gone to bed at about 9 or 10 o'clock, Some time aftor ha was woke up by two mon coming to tho bouse (witness here identified John Walsh and Willinm Donnelly a8 the partiesin question),who knocked at the alde-door threo times, Witness balf oponed the door and asked Donnelly what ho wanted, when Donnelly entored the house and asked if Mra, Roardon was thoro, to which witness answored, 1Ir. Donnelly remained in; Walsh stood outside. Patrick Lawloss and Dan Words wero lying on tho floor under a blanket, asloop. Witness ordered Donnolly twice to leave tho house, which ho rofused to do, Lawless got up, and enid ho was tired of this sort of worl, and mado a plunge at Doonelly as though he wonted fo put bhim out. Donnolly had astove-covor in his band, In the scuffle which ensuad both men fell to the floor. Lawless had suaxinhis hand. Witness loftthe room sa soon as ho eaw the_stove-cover appear. Witness then told “Mrs, Woods, who was in bod, that there would be murder thero to-night. Witnoss saw a knifo in Walsh’s hand. Donnelly had no knifo with him. Witness 8w no blows struck at all. At the conclusion of the evidence, the witness, was groatly excited, fainted away, and remainod unconscious for some timo.
