TIn tho Buporior Court yesterdny, before Judga Gary, o potition was flled by Goorgo Chandler, asldng for an order to show causo why Edwin 4., Wilson shonld not be punished for contempt in suiug an officor of tho court without loave, and for interforing with that officor in the dischargo of dutios in roforenco to tho Lamar Insurance Company, Tho petition sot forth the organiza- tion of tho Company nnd thoe subsequont closing up of its offairs and retiroment from busi- ness. In ordor to ocloso wup its af- fairs, ©» committco, among whom was Leonard Bwett and Edwin A. Wilton, was appolntod to colloct tho dobta due, and pay all claime upon, the Company. Mr. Chaudler claims that this was fully done. At this timoe I. N. Hardin and W. H. W, Cush- man, two oflicers of the Company, held nbmi- nolly 5,000 shnres of Lamar stook, but really, as tho potition allogos, only as security for monoys advauced to the Compauy, and that such loans woro to borepaid and tho stock taken up and canceled, which was dono sometime before the sppointment of tho Recoiver. In January, 1873, o docres of court was made dirocting tho recofver to collect from tho stock holdors an asscssmont of 20 per cont on cartain conditions. Under this decreo, the Rocoiver wout on to collect from the subscribers to the stock. A considerable was paid immodiately, and many euits wore instituted in this and the noighboring Btates. Tho potition then charges that Edwin A. Wilson, in conjuunction with oth- ors, conoootad » sohomo to stop the petitioner, tho Receiver, from collecting tho 20 per cont, o8 ordered by the Court, and, to offect this, mailed to tho stockholdors a ciroular advising them not to pay tho Receiver nuything, but to remit to him, "E. A. Wilson, 1 per cont ou their stocl, aud ho would contoat thoir nesersmonts nnd protact them from all domands made mpon_ thom; and also visited a large numbor of stockholders in poreon and urged resistanco to tho suits, Wil Bon gavo s o ronson for Lis advico that the above-mentioned Cushman and Hardin, snd Lconard Swett, the former Presidont, woro in- dobted to tho Campnn‘l in en amount which, if paid, would cover tho sum which' was sought to be collected from the stoclholdors, and that the sald officers waro pri- marily liablo, and it was the Roecolver's duty to collect the sum due from them before suing tho stockholders. In Juno, 1878, Wilson fssued another oircular estitled “ Sub-Ross,” charging Leonard Bwett with dishonost_practicos, aud attompting to ap- propriate monoys be]ox'l_glng to tho Lamar Com- pany, and roitorating tho advice to pay him 10 por cent, and giviug tho names of soveral places which had remitted the required amount, The nesessment of 20 por cent was afterward roducod by the Court to 12 per cent, and the Ro- ceivor dirocted to sottlo within ninety days from the gecond decreo, Bofore the ninoly days had elapsod, Wilson issued another circular to tho stockholdors, urging thom to make hastoand combine, and biaming them for their delny and sluggishnoss, and making sovoral untruo statoments, Tho petition stated that a suit was commenced b{‘\Vllfiuu in the Buperior Court, in Chancery, in which Bamuel II.
