The Casper Oaily Cribune ~MEETINNLT, Judge Landis Selects Meeting Place for ’ League. By JOHN B. FOSTER. (Copyright, 1925, Casper Tribune) NEW YORK, Nov. 12.—Judge Landis’ decision to hold the meet- ing of the major leagues in New York instead of Chicago, is extreme- ly gratifying to the National leaguers and that circuit will hold its annual session here around the same date as a joint session, Decem- ber 10. € ‘The National magnates once pass. ed a rule that gall their meeting: should be held in Gotham but when the judge became czar of baseball, he upset their wishes by calling the joint meeting In Chicago twice in succession. : A joint session can be held wher- chatka, if he Mkes. It was the im- pression here that he would take all the owners to Chicago but one of the National leaguers told him that a lot of baseball folks wanted to come to New York to do their Christmas shopping. ‘To the general satisfaction of baseball, there {s nothing in pros- pect tlis year like that sharp rebuke which Landis administered to Ban Johnson almost under his own roof last year. FIELD COAL A field goal by Christopher In the first few minutes of play enabled the Casper All-Stars to win from the Sheridan Independents here Armis- tice day by a score of 3 to 0. The game tevealed better team work than had been expected of the Cas- per. men, who had had only a few opportunities to practice for the contest. The men from Sheridan found the Casper defense too much for themweand did not seriously threaten the oil flelders goal, while Casper was very near a touchdown on one occasion. If the crowd, one of the biggest that has attended a football game here this season, had come out with the expectation of enjoying a’ bur- lesque, it was disappointed. De- spite the motley appearance of the players from the standpoint of uni- forms and despite the fact that it was necessary several times to clear the field of spectators in order to permit the game to go on, it was a good struggle, as good a struggle as hag been seen here this year. Frank “Keeno” Gilardi, right end for the locals, was taken out of the game twice in the first half because of injury. The second time he went out it was discovered that he had suffered a broken shoulder bone. Christopher, left half, made con- siderable yardage for the All-Stars. His end runs were a notable feature of the game as well a§ his success- ful punting ,in_ pinches. Chris- topher's scoring kick was*for about eighteen yards, coming after the third down. Flint, fullback, forced his way into the Independents’ line with astonishing pergistency. Flint was untiring, apparently. His ability to muss up the defense of the opposition was a source of won- der to the spectators. He had just intercepted a forward pass when the final whistle blew. Lester as quarter was another Casper man whose work was not to be overlooked. Brittain, who went in for Zobel as right half, completed a backfield that gave the Sheridan- ites something to think about. It was no easy matter, either, for the Independents to get past the Casper line. Captain Mabee made frequent herole attempts but found the prospect a futile one. s that he was considering the retired champion as a principal in matches this winter. j | Cigars of.
