This is as it should be. The day is one of the greatest occasions for realizing the manifold blessings and opportunities that are afforded the American citizen. It is a day also that marks the cutting short of bloodshed and the advent of a more peace- fulera, For these things, there should be no mourning but the greatest thanksgiving, while the human heart cannot, however, fail to take cognizance of the sacrifices that were made in order that these things might be possible.
