Discovery of scab among sheep in Natrona county drew here today several sheepmen from various parts of the county and Dr. Y. R, Bal- mer, secretary of the state board of sheep commissioners. Dr. Balmer will be here several days. Drastic measures will be taken to curb the disease, he announced. The plan of action was not outlined but it will include stringent quarantine and probably thorough dipping. “We do not wish to exaggerate the danger.” M. L the Natrona Coun Wovlgrowers’ association, declared. “This is the first time in many years that scab has been found among sheep in this county and naturally we all became alarmed and took immediate steps to have Dr. Balmer come here and make an investigation.” No sheep as yet have been lost by the disease here, it was said. The scab mite gets into the wool of the animal and destroys it. In advanced stages sheep die of te disease. It indicated today that the mite had been ‘brought here on im- ported sheep.
