MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1925 Che Casper Daily Tribune ALL BUT QNE QF/POLLY OF THE FOLLIES—Friendly Enemies PASSENGERS ON STEAMER FOUND Massachusetts Man Is Missing After Ship Burns Off Florida. JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 19.— (?)—Clyde Line officials today were bending every effort toward finding some trace of William J. Lawler, Winthrop, Mass. contractor, the only person missing in the nea> dis- aster which resuitec in the destruc. tion by fire of the steamship Com- manche off Mayport Saturday night. Early reports which sald ten per- sons were missing were ribeé to contusion in taking the passengers and members of the crew off the burning ship. In this confusion sev- eral persons were thrown into the water, and on being rescued, some were placed aboard the Texas com- pany ol! tanker Reaper and others on the pilot boat Meta, both of which had gone to the rescue. On reaching Mayport, the passen- gers quickly scattered. some roing Into private homes at the little sea- port and others going to hospitals and hotels in Jacksonville. All day yesterday officials were busy check- ing their lists with the result that now only the fate of Lawler remains to be settled. Advices from Mayport say that a close watch is being kept on the beach for his bedy. Ten persons were injured, somé of them seriously, their Injuries having been received mostly when a-life- boat was crushed between the burn- ing vesse] and the Rap-r while a heavy sea was rolling. Others were hurt when another lifyboat spilled them into the sea when one end was lowered too rapidly. Classified Rates Two cents per word or ten cents per line. NO ADD LESS THAN 30 CENTS.
