Dr. and Mrs. H. R. Lathrop Sun- lay_entertained a group of: about thirty friends at the 6,000-acre ranch at the foot of Casper mountain, The guests were shown the various points of interest about the place. Chief among these was the herd of purebred registered Holstein cattle. These magnificent animals, many of which have taken prizes at the Wyoming state fair, elicited fa- vorable comment from the visitors who were amazed at their perfection ‘The herd includes twenty-three.cow: two of which have taken prizes su cestively as grand champlons of Wyoming, and King Cremelle Wal- dorf, grand champion bull of Colo- rado and Wyoming. The herd was established here by Dr, Lathrop three and a half years ago, It is tubercular free and federal redited and is examined each year. Dr, F who is hlso qualified by the govern- ment, examined them only recently. ‘The annual test takes it possible to obtain membership in the Holstein Friesian association. At the present time Dr. Lathrop is seeking to dispose of the herd, The animals either will be sold separate- ly or, if a buyer for the dairy also n be found, will be sold with that nd enough pasture land to maintain a modern dairy. The equipment is one of the most up-to-date in the west. It also elicited considerable fa- vorable comment. The visitors saw the many-regis- tered Poland China hogs, headed by Rambler, a prize winner at Wyo- ming ctate fajrs. Dr. Lathrop also is planning to dispose of these. Moving pictures were taken of the guests and the various ranch scenes. The Bayy air chief's statement, follow ing on the heels of the action by President Coolidge in turning over to a special commission the broad question of air defense policy, “is taken to indicate that the admiral regards Colonel Mitchell's specific charges against the navy air ad- ministration as still to be dealt with. What course the administration does propose to take with r d with them, may not be definitely disclosed, however, before that time. Asserting that proponents of unified air service were using the “revolutionary methods of the com- munists,"" Admiral Moffet declared in thé statement that charges from that quarter “have done more to re. tard aviation and hamper national defense than could have been accom: plished by any other means.” He warned’ that the example of military officers “making a political appeal over the heads of congress to the people” mightebe the “open ing of a wedge for military dictator ship in the United State: ‘aking cognizance also of the contention of Colonel Mitchell that the dated” condition of their planes caused the death of two army officers entered into the Day air om | } | | | , Materials— Needlepoint Roulustra Vivette Carmenia Fortuna Glovella Stylish Sport and Dress Coats Flare Bottom, Queen Ann Collars, New Wrai Elaborately Trimmed in Furs. races last October, Admiral Moffett asserted it was the duty of a high ranking army aviator who. was present at the racing meet, to pre- vent use of the planes if they were unfit. “Responsibility Hes with this man and he cannot evade it by trying to I shift the responsibility to the sys- tem,"* the admiral declared, Colonel Mitchell hopes that he will be given an opportunity to appear onally before the commission {and present his views.
