916 GAMES ON GAD SCHEDULE ~FORTHIS YEA Intersection Play to Break All Records for Colleges. By LAWRENCE PERRY NEW YORK, Aug. 12.—As sohed- ules of important football games be- gin to leak out from various col- leges and universities it becomes lear that the football season of 1925 will be the greatest, from the standpoint at least of intersectional games, that the game has ever known. More than thirty contests among colleges representing all parts of the countty will invite at tention thie fall. The importance of such an ar- rangement can not be too greatly emphasized. When coaches and ath- Jetic directors organized themselves into jolations a great forward step wi n in the interest of nationalized sport. Leading men of the various sec- tions thru this medium of contact are brought together, views are ex- changed, ideals discussed and pro- jects looking to the betterment of the game are promulgated. But the meeting of teams of in- stitutions which they represent on the field of Competitive sport is a very necessary complement. to the work of these men for only in this Way may sectional. jealousies be wiped out and the foundations laid for the erection of a truly Intercol- legiate structure. mind jn any consideration of the in: tersectional football outlook. The Quakers have taken upon themééives the pleasant little contract df: meet- ing two of the leading teams of the western conference on successive Saturdays. Advance dope on these games is that Red Grange may not run as wild and free many think and that the Red and Blue defense will have a harder time stopping Chicago's line and backfield shitt— always a puzzler when frist countered — than in checkmating Wuppke's grinding inside interfer: ence, Chicago not only comes east to meet Penn, but has a nicé home plum of pronounced intersectional flawor- Dartmouth will be a Stagg Field attraction and a good one it will be. The Navy team will be entertained by Michigan in line with the broader policy of out-oftown games which both the service academies have adopted and Columbia, which is ex- pectéd to be strong this season, will play against Ohio Staté at Colum. bus. Syracuse always a keen traveling outfit, journéys to Indianapolis for a game against the Univeristy of Indiana team, Penn State will tackle Notre Dame, Marietta, Michigan Agegle and Georgia Tech—a rich in- tersectional slate. Notre Dame will meet Georgia Tech, the Army and Carnegie Tech. Besides Dartmouth, Chicago will “be at home to Kentucky University and Marquette will visit the Navy ina game that is becoming a hardy annual; Yale will play Maryland and Georgia and Princeton meets ‘Washington and Lee, Tulane plays Tilinols. And so it goes, an unusual and highly gratifying intersectional situ- ation, which can be productive of nothing but good, irrespective of how the balance of victory trends, ——_—>—__—_ ae psn cE, Velours.
