MONDAY; JULY 13, 1925 TIGER CLAN | ON THE MARCH White SF Due to Be Replaced Soon, Says Foster. SY JOHN B. FOS (Copyright 1925 The Casper Tribune) NEW YORK, July 11.—The signs in the American League all point to an early dislodgement of the Chicag White, Sox from third pla and the entry into the upper trio of the Detroit Tigers. Chicago has just about held its own all season, which is not so bad considering that the Sox have no pitchers of note with the possible exception of Faber and Lyons. Rob- ertson and Thurston are not con- sistent enough to be so ranked. The Detroit pitchers have not proved to be much better, but the Tiger batters are an aggregation of swatting savages and from a miser- able last, Detroit has come through, inch by inch, until it has landed on a little better than even terms with defeat. the percentage rating tod: being 508, just 20 points or a game and a half behind the White Sox. If they could do as well compara- tively for the last half of the season they might yet make the Great Lakes ring with cheers of a world series crowd. The course of the Pittsburghs in the National league and the De- troits in the American League has been almost identical, except that the Pirates have actually brushed thelr way into first place. The oppo- sition they have encountered has not been quite as great as that which Detroit has had to face, with two American League teams playing championship ball from the start of the season and Chicago lying as the buffer {f the first division. « — TER Jock noticing that Sandy was smoking @ rather superior brand of tobacco, produced his pipe, scraped the inside with his knife, tapped it on his boot, then on the palm of his hand, but all to no effect. “Hae ye got a match, Sandy,” asked. “Aye,” match, Jock began to get desperate. » I do believe I hae left ma he sald Sandy, passing one said Sandy. “Then ye winna want that match.” _ SS Watch Back Page Tomorrow’s Tribune —— ee GUS AND GUSSIE \S IN BED YET PSTAIRS WELL, THEY HANE “To TANCE AN’ PET TILL SUNRISE, DON'T THEY AIN'T.
