THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 1925 PROPOSAL FOR ARMS MEETING Conference of Powers Urged; Air Service. Row Is Revived. WASHINGTON, Feb. 5. — The house yesterday joined the senate in action looking to the calling of a conference of the powers by the United States to discuss limitation of both land and sea armament. In adopting the senate amend- ous when the conference report on he naval appropriation bill was up, however, the house insisted on a modification by which the president would be “requested” instead of “authorized and requested” to invite other nations to another disarma- ment conference, The senate will have ta concur in the modification before the bill goes to the president. WASHINGTON, Feb. 5.—The con- troversy among army and navy of: ficers over the value of aircraft took on new ramifications when Representative Perkins, Republican, New Jersey, announced that three navy officers had requested the house a ircraft committee not to summon them because they could not give their honest views for fear of being disciplined.
