Offerings here, especially of wheat, were soon aby sorbed, despite the fact that Euro- pean markets appeared unresponsive to advances yesterday on this side of the Atlantic The new buying, which was only of fair volume in the wheat pit, seemed to be based altogether on previously known con- ditions as to the chances of future shortage in supplies. Wheat open- ing prices, which ranged from 1c decline to %c advance, with May $1.80% to $1.81, and July $1.53% to $1.54%, were followed by a moderate general setback, and then by a rise all around to about one cent above yesterday's finish. Corn, oats and rye moved up in value as a result of sympathy with wheat. There was no unsual amount of buying. After opening un- changed to %c oc, May $1.31% to $1.81%, corn sagged somewhat, and then scored gains which averaged one cent. Oats started unchanged to %Cc higher, May 65%c to 65%c. Later, the advance became general and more pronounced. Provisions went higher with grain. LIVESTOCK Chicago Prices.
