Pere Marquette and Erie first preferred each attained new peak prices. Other issues to sell at new maximum quotations included Jor- dan Motors, Maxwell Motors A and Chicago Pneumatic Tool, the gains ranging from fractions to 1% points, The buying movement assumed broader proportions as trading pro- gressed. West Pefin Power jumped 7 ponits and ickel Plate” 3, both to new highs, while Jordan Motors, Texas and Pacific, United States Cast Iron Pipe and United States Realty gained 1% to 2% points. Cop- pers began to reflect the rising prices for the red metal, Anaconda opening a point higher. On ‘the downturn, however, aggressive buying again developed. The new buying was apparently bas ed on indications that export busi- ness overnight had been of fair vol- ume and that likethood of a reduc- tion of the United States visible sup- ply total.on Monday was becoming more pronounced. The opening, which varied from unchanged fig- ures to 1%c higher with December touching $1.64%, May $1.67% ‘to $1.68% and July $1.48 to $1.48%, was followed by a general setback to be- low yesterday’ finish and then something of a rally.
